General Fireworks Displays & Frightened Pets

What is everyone's thoughts on this? Whenever we have a public holiday that involves fireworks over here in the UK, we get petitions from people to ban fireworks completely. Would you agree?

I think only the most harmless fireworks should be allowed to the public for safety reasons (for adult use only) and also because the loud blasts terrify animals. Professional displays regulated by local government agencies would be ok.

I'm anti firework completely, under any circumstances. We can have light shows these days which are as good, if not better.

I only have cats and two of the four are scared to death of them. I live in a duplex with a basement so I just allow them in the basement when they are going off. They feel safer down there.

My younger cat Willow is absolutely terrified of them, she cowers and hides under HER meowmy's duvet and has to be left alone when she's that scared cause she will nip at anyone (even Tigger) if anyone tries to comfort her, when she's that scared the only thing i can do is leave her until she decides to come out :(

Tigger's braver, she will go on the windowsill to watch the light-mousies <3

I dont like fireworks, they frighen pets and if the bonfire that is used isnt checked before the fire is lit, it can burn wildlife to death (hedgehogs, for example)

She's currently very nervous anyways, she gets nervy like this when people are shouting and screaming outside the house, poor petal cannot deal with it <3

I do wonder how long it will take before fireworks either get banned or go out of fashion. The drone displays that they do now look absolutely amazing.
