Reading emotions

Can you read another person's emotions?

Can you easily tell how other people are feeling?

How useful is this ability?

I used to be horrible at reading emotions, I'm still not great at it, but since being opened up to my own emotions, I have definitely come a long way in understanding how to read them in others. It's useful in the sense that you can typical learn and adapt to a situation and respond to a person accordingly, but I still have a long, long way to go!

I generally can empathise with people's emotions, although some spontaneous emotional outbreaks are not so easy to spot. I can also empathise with dogs and read their emotions quite accurately, again some are spontaneous and not easy to predict.

It's not an exact science and more gleaned from instinct and wisdom from dealing with people for most of my working life.

Depends on the person. Some people are very hard to tell what they're thinking or feeling. Other people are more expressive it seems.
